THE EASTSIDE FAMILY GUIDE
Eastside Libraries Worth Checking Out
With the Kids
Find current hours, storytimes and family programs
Libraries are one of my favorite easy family outings. You can browse books, spend a little time in the children’s area and check the calendar for storytimes, crafts and other programs before you go. I pulled together six branches in this edition so you can quickly compare locations and regular public hours.
Before you leave: KCLS has announced expanded hours beginning October 20, 2026. The summaries below reflect current hours checked before that change. Check the official page for your visit date. Event schedules, holiday closures and temporary hours can change. Use the buttons below to check the official branch page and current event calendar.
A few tips that make library trips easier
- Open the event listing before you go and confirm registration, age range and location.
- Bring your library card if you plan to check out books, but families can still browse and attend many public programs without checking anything out.
- Let each child choose one book for fun and one book about something they are curious about.
- Check the holiday closure section during November and December.
Save this guide: Check each official calendar again before attending a class or storytime. Some programs require registration or are designed for a particular age group.
